1. Standard Overview
GB/T 3836.2-2021 (modified from IEC 60079-1:2014) is the core standard for Ex d flameproof electrical equipment in explosive gas environments, governing product design, production, inspection and application.
2. Flameproof Working Principle
A flameproof enclosure “d” has two core capabilities:
(1) Explosion resistance: Withstands internal explosion pressure without rupture or permanent deformation.
(2) Flame quenching: Flameproof joints cool and extinguish internal flames to prevent external ignition.
3. Key Technical Specifications
(1) Flameproof performance depends on joint width, gap and surface roughness.
(2) Enclosures must pass static/dynamic overpressure tests with specified pressure thresholds based on volume and gas group.
(3) Cable glands, fasteners and all critical parts shall meet flameproof and sealing requirements.
4. Application & Maintenance
Ex d equipment covers flameproof motors, lights, junction boxes, instruments for petrochemical, coal, pharmaceutical and mining industries. Prohibited unauthorized housing modification or non-original part replacement. Regular inspections must be performed by certified explosion-proof technicians; defective units shall be removed promptly.
